چکیده

A new species of the genus Scheloribates (Oribatida, Scheloribatidae) — S. (Scheloribates) arsizonensis n. sp. is described from Ethiopia, based on adult and juvenile instars, collected litter green moss in Arsi Mountains National Park. Adults differ praestantissimus (Berlese, 1916) having fusiform, distally pointed bothridial seta, absence prolamella, presence well-developed notogastral setae p1. The comparison juveniles with other presented. Juveniles can be distinguished known by two strong, long, longitudinal, dorsolateral folds gastronotum all long gastronotic seta c3, which distinctly longer than nymphal vestigial h3 larva, aggenital deutonymph.

The oribatid mite Scheloribates moestus (Acari: Oribatida) alters litter chemistry and nutrient cycling during decomposition

It is widely accepted that microarthropods influence decomposition dynamics but we know relatively little about their effects on litter chemistry, extracellular enzyme activities, and other finer-scale decomposition processes. Further, few studies have investigated the role of individual microarthropod species in litter decomposition. The oribatid mite Scheloribates moestus Banks (Acari: Oribat...

The oribatid mite genus Benoibates (Acari, Oribatida, Oripodidae)

Two species of oribatid mites of the genus Benoibates (Oribatida, Oripodidae), i.e., Benoibatesbolivianus Balogh & Mahunka, 1969(a) and Benoibatesminimus Mahunka, 1985, are recorded for the first time in Costa Rica. Both are redescribed in details, using drawings, images and SEM micrographs, on the basis of Costa Rican specimens. An identification key to the known species of Benoibates is given.

Two new species of the oribatid mite genus Phyllochthonius Travé, 1967 (Acari: Oribatida: Phyllochthoniidae) from Thailand

The enarthronote oribatid mite genus Phyllochthonius Travé, 1967 (Acari: Oribatida: Phyllochthoniidae) is recorded from Thailand for the first time. Two new species, Phyllochthonius ovatosetosus n. sp. collected from sandy soil in a riparian habitat and Phyllochthonius peniculus n. sp. collected from leaf-litter on the forest floor, are described based on adults and all immature instars, and on...

Catalogue and historical overview of juvenile instars of oribatid mites (Acari: Oribatida).

Oribatid mites (Acari: Oribatida) comprise a taxonomically and morphologically diverse suborder of about 10,000 described species, not including the hyporder Astigmata, with collectively a global distribution. They are primarily soil and litter inhabitants, feeding on fungi and decaying plant remains with various levels of specificity. Though all five active instars are important for reasons th...
